As optical passive devices, Anetfiber attenuators are mainly used in fiber optic to debug optical power performance & optical instrument calibration correction & fiber signal attenuation to ensure the optical power in a stable and desired level in the link without any changes on its original transmission wave. A Fixed In-line fiber optic FC APC 10dB attenuator (Mfr. Japan) that can be quickly installed in your single-mode (1310/1550nm) optical link to reduce optical power. This Simplex FC APC/Male to FC APC/Female premium grade attenuator (Return Loss: UPC ≤ -50dB, APC ≤ -60dB) can accommodate up to 200mw high power and offer very low attenuation tolerance of less than 0.5dB (1-10dB: ≤ .5dB, 11-25dB: 5% x Attenuation). Fiber optic attenuators are used in fiber optic communications to reduce the optical fiber power by a certain level. Too much light can saturate a fiber optic receiver, which to reduce the power of illumination and achieve optimum system performance a fiber optic attenuator would need to be used. In general, multimode systems do not require attenuators because multimode sources, rarely have enough power to saturate the receiver. Instead, it is necessary to use fiber optic attenuators for the purpose of balancing optical power during transport in single mode systems, especially long haul DWDM networks.
